Chef John's Salisbury Steak - Review by Anne
This was absolutely delicious! I made it exactly per the recipe. The gravy takes a while to make. One reviewer said she made it the day before. I think I'll try that next time. It made possibly the best beef gravy I have ever had. I'm going to use this gravy with a round steak and noodles.

Steak Diane was a staple on menus in fine dining establishments back in the day. Prepared tableside where the server ignited the cognac, it was an impressive sight. But that step's optional here.
Cubed round steaks and onions in a rich beefy gravy. A dish that goes well with mashed potatoes or noodles.
An old-fashioned hamburger steak recipe topped with a creamy mushroom sauce. Serve with some warm mashed potatoes and your favorite green vegetable. Our family loves this. Makes a great cheap meal!
Homemade mushroom gravy takes the flavor of simple hamburger steaks to the next level. It's still quick enough to cook for a weeknight dinner.
